If you ever wondered where the Po Valley was, it’s in Italy. And there, between the River Po and the Apennine Mountains, you’ll find the city of Bologna. This is where the internationally-renowned Bolognese sauce was invented, a type of ragu - although it’s often said that the Bolognese sauces you eat elsewhere bear little or no relation to the real thing. ‘La grassa’, the fat one, is one of the city’s nicknames, a reference to its cuisine. ‘La dota’, the learned one, is another, acknowledging the fact that Bologna is home to the oldest university in the Western world, founded in 1088. Or, if you’re less academically-minded, you might like to know that it’s the base for Lamborghini, Maserati and Ducati.
Sending parcels to Bologna is easily done, but there is an obvious pitfall staring you in the face, if you did but know it, and it’s one you would do well to steer clear of. Its name? The Post Office. Long years of experience as we fought our way toward becoming the UK’s largest online parcel delivery service taught us a harsh lesson about when to avail ourselves of the services of the loyal and trusted postie and when to avoid him like the plague. We have no hesitation whatsoever in telling you that a parcel to Bologna should only be despatched in the hands of a bona fide courier to Bologna.
By which we mean the likes of Parcelforce, FedEx and TNT - big names with the network and support systems to match.
