Since Brexit, it has become more difficult to send gifts to Turkey.
The key changes to be aware of are:
Turkey’s tax-free threshold is now €0.00, meaning parcels valued over this level (including shipping) will be subject to import duties and VAT.
Personal items, including gifts, are no longer exempt.
Customs duties from non-EU countries such as the UK have increased to 60% of the total invoice amount.
Luxury items and electronics may also have an additional Special Consumption Tax added, which can be up to 20%.
If a Customs Broker is required, they may impose additional charges. These can be around €350.
Customs will not release parcels until someone pays the appropriate fees. To prevent your recipient having this additional cost, you can choose to send your parcel on a Delivery Duty Paid service.
