When you don’t operate from a bricks and mortar shop, live online selling is one of the top ways to enhance your customers’ shopping experience.
Whatnot and TikTok are already well-known for going live, but now eBay is joining the real-time conversation.
Let’s look at what this means for you and your online business.
eBay Live is an interactive livestream shopping experience that lets you tell the story behind your business and products. It’s all about building trust, growing your customer base, encouraging repeat business, and creating a buzz around what you’re selling with engaging live streams.
Not only can you chat with customers in real time, it’s also great for showcasing products, answering customer questions, and holding live auctions or ‘buy it now’ sales. If customers like what they see, they can buy items straight from your live eBay event, just like on TikTok.
With eBay Live, you can choose to list your products as fixed-price listings or auctions. There are two types of auctions:
Standard auctions – eBay’s signature auction style. You choose how long your auction runs for, and once the time runs out, the highest bidder wins the item.
Extended auctions – If you enable this option, extra time will be added to your auction if bids are placed within the last 5 seconds of the scheduled end time. If this happens, the timer will reset to 10 seconds and will continue resetting until there are no more bids in the last 5 seconds.
Customers can search for upcoming eBay Live events on the eBay Live hub, and eBay will notify them when a seller they follow goes live.
eBay Live is only available to select customers right now. If you have a business account, you can apply to be a beta seller by completing an eBay Live Seller Interest form.
The first phase of eBay Live features collectibles and luxury items. This includes products like memorabilia, vintage toys, Swiss watches, and handbags.
Just like with your regular eBay shop, you’ll be able to fulfil your eBay Live orders through Smart Send to get access to the lowest delivery prices.
