2026 Latest: The Biggest Updates to EU Shipping Since Brexit

From 1st November 2026, every parcel shipped to the EU will need to provide Product Identifiers. This follows on from the end of duty-free treatment for low-value parcels which was introduced in July this year. Here's the headline picture - our business and consumer hubs go into full detail.

  • Product Identifiers (PIDs) become mandatory from 1 November 2026. Every parcel sent to the EU will need its own PID, such as a GTIN or EAN, and a detailed description. See what you need to do

  • €3 new flat-rate customs duty per item category, applying to most B2C parcels under €150 sent to the EU since 1 July 2026. The €45 gift exemption remains: genuine personal gifts between individuals, valued at €45 or under, declared correctly are staying the same. See the full breakdown

GPSR: Updated General Product Safety Regulations

As of 13th December 2024, new regulations have been introduced to enhance product safety for consumers and provide clearer guidelines for businesses shipping to the EU and NI. The question on most peoples mind is Does GPSR Apply to Me?

The key change for UK-based businesses and online sellers is the requirement to appoint a ‘responsible person’ based in the EU or NI. This individual is responsible for overseeing compliance and product safety requirements. Additionally, all packaging must adhere to GPSR labelling regulations.
