We recently caught up with one of our biggest customers on how she manages shipping across multiple online sale channels by using Smart Send!

Linzi sells household goods across TikTok, eBay, and Amazon, shipping everything through Smart Send with both an Evri and Parcelforce business account!

Whether you sell on one platform or five, Smart Send makes shipping simple. With automated shipping tools, quick integrations, and multiple courier service options, it takes the stress out of managing orders from different channels. See for yourself why experienced sellers like Linzi count on Smart Send to keep their ecommerce shipping running smoothly, day in and day out.

Linzi, first of all can you tell me a bit about your business? What do you sell and where do you sell it?

I usually refer to our products as ‘homeware products’ because they can vary – it’s things like kitchen and bathroom items and household goods. We sell a bit of everything.

We don’t have our own website — we sell through TikTok, eBay, and Amazon. You don’t necessarily need your own website to get started, but that is something that we want to do in the future. All our sales platforms are linked to Parcel2Go anyway, so whichever one customers come through, it works for us.

We have several different accounts, just to help increase traffic and exposure. Some platforms perform better than others. When it comes to eBay, it can be tricky – if you get poor feedback or too many returns, it can hurt your account’s health, which then affects traffic to your listings. Amazon is a smaller part of the business compared to our TikTok account, @The Gift House UK, which is doing really well. Even though we’re selling the same products, different accounts can perform very differently depending on the algorithm and other factors.

How did you get into selling household products on TikTok?

It started with just buying things for cheaper, finding bargains, and reselling them for a bit of profit. That was just on eBay as a hobby – and then it went from there really!

In the beginning it was just a few products, like pillows or things you might find around the house, and then my son took an interest in the buying and selling side. He started looking at trending products and has now built up different contacts we can order from. He’ll research the kind of items we should sell and we’ve built it up from there, so now we sell a lot of different products.

So what initially brought you to Parcel2Go? How does Parcel2Go help you?

From the beginning, I’ve been using Parcel2Go – it’s something I started with early on. Even before I used it, I just knew it was a comparison site. When you’re buying something, you want to make sure you’re getting the best deal, whether it’s insurance or delivery, so I’ve always liked to compare options before buying anything. When it comes to postage, instead of going to just one provider, like just Royal Mail or just Evri, I knew on Parcel2Go you could select which company based on the size and weight. So it just caters for what you actually need.

I used to just send the odd parcel here and there and didn’t have a proper Parcel2Go account set up. But once I started properly selling on different platforms and the eBay account got busy, I carried on using it because the price was good. And then when you could integrate your eBay account, I did that.

Once upon a time you had to manually type in every customer’s name and address before integrations existed. But things have improved a lot since then and overtime it just suits what I need it for really. Now we’ve got everything integrated with Smart Send, which links directly to our accounts.

Do you exclusively use collection services?

Yeah, that’s something that’s developed over time. We were just taking a car full of parcels to our local parcel shop but as the volume increased, the drop shop would only take so many and it just wasn’t practical anymore.

So we have an Evri business account with Parcel2Go now and an 18 tonne truck comes every day, Monday to Friday, and takes away all our parcels.

We send the majority of our parcels with Evri, but we were sending some 20kg parcels recently and Evri’s limit is 15kg, so that’s when we set up a Parcelforce business account through Parcel2Go as well. So now we have collections from Parcelforce every day too. It just means we don’t have to keep dropping things off at the Post Office all the time.

Roughly how many items do you ship each week?

We usually send at least 2,000 parcels a week, though that number can sometimes double depending on how busy things are. It’s gone a bit mad recently, so I’m sending about 400-500 parcels a day at the minute.

Are you just sending within the UK, or do you ship internationally too?

Right now, we’re only sending within the UK and Northern Ireland.

Only because when you sell on TikTok, you can’t always sell to other countries. You can on Amazon but we just don’t get the amount of sales to make it worth it on that at the minute. We’re mostly focused on UK orders for now.

A lot of people integrate and don’t send – how did you find the process of linking your TikTok and eBay accounts to Smart Send? And then sending parcels regularly?

Yeah – it’s user friendly enough like, like with most systems it’s just a few clicks. You click a button to integrate and it takes you through to log into the account you’re linking, then it just pulls through the orders.

I’m fairly confident with tech and computers, so maybe some people would want you to talk through it but I found it very straightforward.

And do you think anything is missing from Smart Send? Is there a way in which Parcel2Go could serve you better?

Not really! I use all the filters on it because I’ve linked so many different accounts and I might just want to process my eBay orders and prioritise those. So while there may be 500 orders in my Smart Send, I can just filter it and process just my eBay orders, ticking them off as I go.

If someone cancels an order, I’ll get a notification from TikTok or eBay and I can just search for the order number in Smart Send.

A while ago, I wasn’t even using packing slips – I didn’t know that feature existed! I used to try and process orders more manually, which made things harder. So I raised that and was told I just needed to tick a box when I generated the label to get a packing slip. So now I use those all the time.

Smart Send also sends the tracking numbers over to my accounts now. I just ticked a box in settings for the tracking to update automatically – now it just pings a notification over to TikTok or eBay once I process an order so I don’t have to manually dispatch things either.

It pulls everything through really. I had a few issues with the claims process in the past, just receiving automated emails, but now I have a claims supervisor on my business account so everything runs smoothly with that now too. I can’t really think of anything Smart Send is missing.

Do you have any plans for the future? Will you sell on other sites or widen your inventory?

Yeah, possibly creating our own website – that might be the next step. But right now, things are just so busy. The platforms we already sell on have a lot of existing traffic, whereas starting a website would take a while to get traffic to it and get our name out there.

At the moment, we don’t actually need to do much to generate new orders. We’re already at a point where we’re struggling to keep up with the volume we’ve got! So, it wouldn’t really make sense to start advertising more or trying to bring in more traffic elsewhere just yet.

But we’re buying new products all the time so that will naturally increase sales but they’ll just be listed on the platforms we’re already using.

Obviously you’ve been doing this for years now, but do you have any advice for other businesses selling or trying to sell on TikTok? Anyone starting out?

There’s a lot of forums you can find advice in.

Platforms like TikTok often try to push you toward using their own systems, like making you buy postage through them. They offer different incentives, but from forums I know of people who have had nightmares with TikTok shipping so I’ve never used that – it’s never even crossed my mind. But when people on forums ask the best way to sort shipping or issues, I’ll reply saying what I use. I’ve said I use Parcel2Go and I find it easy and straightforward.

So I’d say use forums where that have different sellers, and post your questions to hopefully find the answers you’re looking for.
