The online auction site reported March to be one of the most popular times of the year to buy cars – and with online sales proving more popular with consumers, businesses will be vying for attention via the mobile platform.
Data from eBay Advertising highlighted that in January 2015, the percentage of mobile purchases of four leading car brands, Volkswagen, Nissan, BMW and Mercedes on eBay experienced a 17 per cent year-on-year rise – revealing that shoppers are feeling more comfortable in conducting big spends on their mobile devices.
Phuong Nguyen, director of eBay Advertising UK, explained: “At such an important time for the sector, marketers must keep pace with how customers interact with the category. Brands must have visibility on mobile or they risk being excluded from the research and purchase journey.
“Showrooming is becoming an intrinsic part of the online shopping experience, and brands should use it as a chance to engage audience segments.
